Job Summary:
Responsible for the overall management of the pharmacy department. Responsibilities include operational and program planning; establishing policies, procedures and standards; organization and effective utilization of resources; compliance with regulatory requirements; integrating and coordinating services; performance improvement; hiring, evaluation and supervision of staff; and ongoing education and development of staff. Collaborates with the nursing and medical staff. Provides clinical pharmacist services.
As a director of a high risk Corporate Compliance area, responsible for keeping current on regulations and cooperating with the Corporate Compliance Officer to assure that services rendered are correctly charged.
Recognizes role and participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team working towards attaining MHMH’s mission, vision, and goal of meeting patients’/significant other(s)’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in a dignified manner.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited
College of Pharmacy is required. Doctor of Pharmacy is preferred.
Ohio licensure to practice Pharmacy; continuing education required to maintain licensure
Experience Three years hospital or related management experience
preferred. Three years as a clinical pharmacist.
Job Knowledge Knowledgeable of current pharmacy management
principles and accreditation, regulatory and licensing
requirements, including drug utilization and review
methodologies.
Ongoing Educational Requirements:
• Attend/participate in mandatory educational programs as defined by
hospital and department policy.
• Maintains current licensure.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
• The physical activities of this position include standing with periods of
sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and walking throughout the
hospital.
• An individual in this position will be required to carry or lift weight in the
range of 11 to 24 pounds.
• The sensory and communication activities include feeling, hearing, seeing,
and speaking.
• An individual in this position will be exposed to inside environmental
conditions. Possible exposure to chemotoxic medications, lessened by the
provision of knowledge and supplies, when working under the Biogard
Hood.
• Per OSHA guidelines, the risk of coming in contact with blood borne
pathogens is not likely.
Special Requirements:
Must be able to organize work and maintain harmony with other departments and the medical staff. Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must balance clinical responsibilities with administrative responsibilities.
